About OLL LAX

OLL LAX: free arcade box lacrosse in your browser

OLL LAX is a fast, cheeky box lacrosse video game you play right here, with no download, account or ads. Three runners and a goalie a side, a 15-second shot clock, big hits into the boards, turbo, behind-the-back trick shots, and fights when tempers boil over. It plays like the arcade sports games you grew up with, built around Canada's national summer sport.

How to play

Controls

Play with an Xbox or PlayStation controller, a keyboard (WASD to move, J pass, K shoot, L check, Shift turbo), or a mouse and keyboard. Settings has a button diagram for offence and defence, four difficulty levels from Rookie to Legend, and options for rumble, button labels and fights.

The arenas

Two barns inspired by real box lacrosse rinks: Kings Park, with its glossy teal wood floor and blue seats, where the ball bounces lively and skids; and The Creator's Arena, green carpet with purple creases and orange seats, where the ball dies on the turf. Both have rounded corner boards, glass, penalty boxes and a goal light that flashes when you score.

What is box lacrosse?

Box lacrosse, or boxla, is indoor lacrosse played in a hockey rink with the ice out. It is faster and more physical than field lacrosse, with smaller nets, a shot clock and plenty of contact. It is played across Canada in leagues like the WLA, OLA and NLL, and the Mann Cup and Minto Cup are its biggest trophies.

Who made it

OLL LAX is a side project by Shawn Mervin, a software developer in British Columbia who builds web and mobile apps for businesses, including Rental Pilot. It is built with Three.js and TypeScript and runs entirely in your browser. More side builds are in the Lab.
